Linden Lab tries to Shine

Recently, it has become more and more difficult for the viewer-sim server to exchange sufficient information to allow avatars to rez. Bake-Fail has become a major issue in SL, and thankfully, Linden Lab are doing something about it. Or so it would seem. Several blogs have disseminated the information given in an SL Blogpost a few weeks back:

http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Tools-and-Technology/Project-Shining-to-Improve-Avatar-and-Object-Streaming-Speeds/ba-p/1583465
was the original SL post, and for once I think I can follow it!
then came posts in Inara Pey’s blog and Nalates Uriah’s:
http://modemworld.wordpress.com/2012/06/30/a-shining-announcement-major-improvements-coming-to-sl/
and
http://blog.nalates.net/2012/06/30/second-life-changes-coming/

These posts give a slightly less geeky take on the original post. Just when all this will come to SL is not entirely clear, but for most of us, the sooner the better!

I apologise for these Urls not working, but if you copy and paste them into yor browser, they will. One day I will work out how to use WordPress properly! Perhaps.
