Firestorm 4.7.9 better Late than Never

The new iteration of Firestorm was released today (UK time) and it was well worth the wait. After a very long wait (for VERY good reasons, I DO realise) we have RLVa updated to RLV 2.9 standard. We also have Linden Lab’s “Jellydolls” a rendering trick that really ought to make life easier for owners of less that stellar computers. For a long time I have not had many issues in the rendering area since I spent silly money on “top-end” graphics cards (a GTX580..and more recently a GTX 980Ti) but not everyone is so fortunate. Those folk should see noticeable improvements to their SL experience in populated areas. Needless to say, there are many other tweaks and features that most of us only occasionally use but which are a boon when we do use them.

As ever the Firestorm update procedure is simple and quick and I have had no problems thus far. Inara Pey’s blog gives a far more erudite description of what’s on offer and I commend her to you if you wish to know more. For me it is sufficient to say that it seems to be a very good upgrade and well worth doing, if you use Firestorm, and at last it is no handicap if you are an RLV(a) user.
